EnVision, a unique partnership of environmental organisations across the South West of England, assists and trains small businesses, providing them with dedicated business mentors who deliver flexible, bespoke business advice and support, based on individual business need. Each business receives a Baseline Environmental Review detailing an improvement action plan. Following this, staff training and workshops, specialist advice and hands-on support help guide the business through its operational and behaviour change.
Tourism businesses across Devon (including Exmoor National Park) have learnt to use less water, fuel and power, and produce less waste. This has cut operational costs and opened new markets by attracting holiday makers seeking a sustainable, wildlife-rich alternative in a very competitive market.
Companies throughout the South West have realised significant savings to their bottom line through simple environmental cost-cutting initiatives: a packaging company halved its waste costs, a waste company achieved accreditation to ISO 14001, and an engineering company now closely tracks and reduces its utilities consumption, saving thousands a year.
