global education network
Envolve coordinates the B&NES Global Education Network (GLEN), a regional project funded by the Department for International Development that supports teachers in strengthening a global dimension in their schools.
We aim to promote approaches to learning that will help young people to become active global citizens, able to link their lives with the wider world.
Over the past year we have worked in schools with both teachers and pupils. We have gathered a range of resources and our 'treasure chests' on India and St Lucia have been particularly popular.
The highlight of the year was the Global Fair attended by 130 pupils from 15 schools. Beneath the banner of 'Making Poverty History', workshops on fair trade, migration, story telling, music from Senegal, dance from India - all gave pupils a chance to explore issues while celebrating diversity.
