recycling in secondary schools

B&NES

This new project aims to bring the 3R's message - reduce, re-use and recycle waste - to all aspects of schools from the classrooms to the staff rooms and offices. Schools involved will be helped to set up, run or revive paper and can recycling schemes and to start composting. Resources for use within the curriculum, especially PSHE and citizenship will be available to all participating schools. Assemblies and classroom sessions can also be booked.

All secondary schools in the area are invited to get involved and everything is provided free of charge!

This project builds on the success of education work carried out by Envolve and our partners in this project The Recycling Consortium and Bath and North East Somerset Council. The B&NES Secondary School Project is funded by DEFRA.

Wiltshire

Recycling projects are also being undertaken in wiltshire in partnership with the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. This currently involves 3 schools and uses recycling issues within the curriculum in subjects ranging from geography to drama. The schools involved are also setting up paper recycling schemes.

Part of this project also involved year nine sending text messages with a recycling theme to Dr Andrew Murrison MP examples of these are:

- Let us unite, recycle, it's right
- Don't be sluggish, recycle your rubbish
- Drop it on the ground and you'll make mother nature frown. Put it in the bin and make mother nature grin

This project is being funded by LaFarge.
