walk out on stress

Exercise. The word scares the socks off many people and, of course, the less exercise you do, the harder and scarier it becomes. To help tackle this problem, a new series of eight walks has been devised by Envolve to encourage people to get back into exercising. Nothing too drastic or shocking for anyone a little out of shape, just convenient walks which are designed to allow people to see more of their neighbourhood while gently building up stamina and health.

The walking routes are fairly direct and scenic, linking to local facilities such as shopping centres, the bus station and the city centre. Each walk takes between 30 and 60 minutes and some could be included as part of a daily routine, maybe on the way to work or to the shops.

There are walks to take you through Twerton, Combe Down and Weston, and there also a few routes from some nearby villages such as Bathford or Kelston. Each route is displayed on an easy to follow sheet which can be carried by the walker. Points of interest are indicated and each sheet includes both a map and written instructions. So get walking!

The route maps are available free (or for only £1.50, you can buy a water-proof version) from Envolve's Environment Centre in Green Park Station.
