GET ENVOLVED!
- what our volunteers say

Being involved with Envolve has been a terrific learning curve, which I hope will become apparent. I joined in January 2006 and have never looked back since. I believe in the ethos of Envolve!

My job is multi faceted. I have not looked back since I joined Envolve. I spent time helping George to update her media database and in turn she helped me by showing me how to use Microsoft Access ~ another string to my little bow! I've also improved my knowledge of surfing the Net. George's project involved phoning a list of contacts in order to have up to date information so that the word about Envolve's activities could be spread.

I was once a fully registered representative of the London Stock Exchange. Viv took me on as a bookkeeper for the Food Co-op at Twerton, but although I had worked in the financial sector it did not necessarily mean that I could do bookkeeping. I could use a calculator - well, even that statement eventually proved to be a fallacy! It was soon apparent that I could not add up a sum of money and match it to the spreadsheet even with a calculator. At the end of each session I was going home unhappy that I had failed a simple task. I decided to meet with Viv and tell her that if I couldn't get it right the following week, I would give up the bookkeeping bit. Well I don't know what happened ~ divine interruption or should it be inspiration or even intervention? I'm not 100% sure that the NEW calculator bought for me will enable me to carry on bookkeeping.

I took the initiative to ask Debbie Lloyd at Green Park Station if she could give me some work and the response was a very loud 'Yes please'! I'm now involved in the Garden Market Event which involves phoning a list of people and inviting them to take up a stall at the GPS Garden Market ~ I'm also dealing with enlisting Static Security guards and employing contract cleaners... Throughout all the projects I have worked on for Debbie she has always said "That was brilliant Sue ~ well done!'' I haven't had praise like that for a long time!

I can honestly say that I have enjoyed all the projects I've worked on and my time with Claire, George and Debbie. I also enjoyed the Mexican evening and met several volunteers I'd never set eyes on before. I was also quietly pleased with myself that I was amongst the winners of the competition. I've met and talked with people who are committed to improving the lives of generations to come by making people aware of their environment.

Envolve has given me the confidence to go out and seek new employment. I have developed new skills and rekindled old ~ life has been awakened in me again.   Thank you for the praise, it never hurts to give praise where deserved.

Would I recommend Envolve?

A resounding yes, yes, and Yes! Without doubt! Always do! I am always extolling the virtues of Envolve!
